Psalm 19:1-7

Psalm 19 describes two ways by which God speaks to us - through creation (verses 1-6) and through the Bible (verses 7-11). It closes by telling us how we can speak to God (verses 12-14.

Thank God for the wonder of his creation: 'The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork' (verse 1).

Thank God for the constancy of his voice in creation
: 'Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge' (verse 2).

Thank the Lord for the universality of his voice in creation: 'There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world' (verses 3 and 4).

Thank God for the benefits of the sun: 'In them he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat' (verses 6 and 7).
